Word Of Mouth: Your Comprehensive Guide To The New Dentistry Of Today And Tomorrow Part 2
What is current state of affairs in implant dentistry?
Good news indeed!! For the past twenty years I was fortunate to witness an unprecedented development of dental implantology from budding science promoted by a small group of enthusiasts to unanimously accepted standard by both professionals and public in general. We, practicing implantologists, are no longer “just dentists”. We are “physicians of the mouth” for this field just like regenerative dentistry in general requires vast knowledge in all medical sub-disciplines on the top of having precise surgical skills. And implant dentistry is here to stay and grow bigger for there are multiple reasons for it. Here are some of them. First, there is a great demand for dental rehabilitation. As we live longer tooth loss becomes more actual problem for it can significantly impair quality of life by multiple parameters. But if before patients opted for bridges and dentures for tooth restorations, this time around it’s different. Every day more and more people come to see us in Naples Implant and Laser Dental Center or sending me e-mails via my our web-site seeking first hand advice specifically about dental implants and related regenerative dentistry. People chose dental implants in ever increasing numbers and we strive to further properly educating patients about this option. Second, with advances of dental technologies and increased predictability of dental implants regenerative treatment becomes recognized standard of care for tooth loss. Success in implant dentistry is 95% (one of the highest in medicine) and our personal numbers at Naples Implant and Laser Dental Center are even more impressive being close to 98%! And third, more and more dentures are perceived as an antiquated approach and more and more being associated with aging, the trend each one of us would naturally resist. People are living longer and want to maintain younger and healthier look and smile. So future looks quite bright both for our patients and field of implant and regenerative dentistry!!
Dr. Daniyar, can you tell us about any particular new trends in dental implantology?
Of course there are always new trends!! And they are multiple. Lately we have been concentrating on delivering stable treatment within shorter period of time while further harmonizing usage of implants with esthetics and functions. This is where management and regeneration of any sustained pre-existing damage becomes the most crucial component. And it seems that future here belongs to biotechnology as it holds the key to tissue bioengineering. Today we are already using various natural growth factors or “tissue stimulators” to obtain most ideal treatment results. Nanotechnology is also rapidly finding its way into the field of implant and regenerative dentistry. The new research is being done on a vast scale and new technologies are becoming available for clinicians every day, and just to tell you more about it we may need to dedicate more time.
I guess we may discuss it next time then. Meanwhile, how can our readers find you if they have any questions?
